Fixed interest rate

A Savings Deposit (Spaar Deposito) is a savings account in which you deposit money for a longer period of time, or term. The interest rate is fixed during the term. We currently only offer a fixed term of 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 years.

Information and conditions

Interest

  • The interest for a term of 1 year is  2.50% . 
  • The interest for a term of 2 years is  2.55% . 
  • The interest for a term of 3 years is  2.60% . 
  • The interest for a term of 5 years is  2.65% . 
  • The interest for a term of 10 years is  2.70% . 
  • You will receive the interest yearly on your nominated account. The interest is transferred on the date of deposit.
Deposits

The minimum amount that must be deposited into a Savings Deposit (Spaar Deposito) is EUR 500,-.

Each time you make a new deposit, the term for that specific deposit will start on the day you make the deposit. You can make multiple deposits for each Savings Deposit. The applicable interest is determined by the date on which the deposit is made.

Withdrawals

At the end of the term you set for your Savings Deposit (Spaar Deposito), the amount is transferred to either your ABN AMRO current account or a savings account.

  • If you withdraw money before the end of the term, you will pay a penalty.
  • The penalty is 1% of the amount that you withdraw times the remaining term. The penalty is never more than 6% of the amount that you withdraw. You will receive interest for the number of days that the money was in your Savings Deposit (Spaar Deposito).  
  • Sample penalty calculation: your Savings Deposit (Spaar Deposito) is fixed for another four years and you withdraw € 10,000. The penalty is calculated as follows: 1% of € 10,000 =  € 100 x 4 = € 400
Changing the account number

When you open a Savings Deposit, you specify the account to which you would like the savings and interest to be credited at the end of the term. If you want to change your account number, call us on 0900 - 81 70 (standard call charges apply). If you are calling from outside the Netherlands, please dial +31 10 - 241 17 23.

Closing the account

Is there no balance left in your Savings Deposit (Spaar Deposito)? Then you can close the account free of cost. You can easily do this online.
Is there still money in your Savings Deposit (Spaar Deposito)? Please note that a penalty will be charged when you close the account. For more information, see "Withdrawals". For this request you can contact us at 0900 – 81 70 (standard call charges). If you are calling from outside the Netherlands, please dial +31 10 – 241 17 23.

Our money is protected by the Dutch Deposit Guarantee.

Your money held in accounts at ABN AMRO Bank is legally protected by the Dutch Deposit Guarantee, from 1 cent to €100,000. This protection applies per person and applies to the total amount that you have in your accounts at ABN AMRO Bank. You do not have to do anything for this.
