Step 7

Congratulations, you’ve chosen how you want to invest. What did you choose? Guided Investing or Self-Directed Investing Basic? In the previous steps, you learnt all about the other choices you can make. So let’s get started! Here are a few more things that are good to know.

ABN AMRO

Guided Investing

Getting started with Guided Investing

If you have opted for Guided Investing, we will open an investment account for you. You will find it in the ABN AMRO app and on Internet Banking. Click the account for online guidance in deciding on an investment goal, how long you want to invest for, and the risk you are willing to take. You will be investing in your chosen ABN AMRO ESG Profile Fund. Whenever you want, you can switch funds or stop investing. Happy with your choice? Then you’re all set to start investing.

Track your investments in the app and on Internet Banking

Get an at-a-glance view of the current value of your investment. The graph in the app and on Internet Banking shows how the value of your investment is expected to develop and gives you an idea of how likely it is that you will achieve your goal. You will also find a lot of information about your profile fund there, ranging from its current contents and the spread to the price trend and the fund’s ESG (sustainability) performance.

A single amount or periodic investing

You can start by putting as little as €50 into your profile fund. If you want to put money in more often and make sure you don’t forget, you can with periodic investing, which is very easy to set up. Periodic investing starts from €20 per month or quarter, for example. You can change or cancel the standing order for your periodic investment. Couldn’t be any easier, right?

Self-Directed Investing Basic

Getting started with Guided Investing Basic

If you have opted for Self-Directed Investing Basic, we will open an investment account for you. You will find it in the ABN AMRO app and on Internet Banking, which is where you can place your first investment order.

View the full selection

You should by now have some idea as to what investment products (or mix of these) you want to invest in. If not, go back to steps 4 and 5. You can also take a look at the full selection of investment vehicles – investment funds, ETFs, and shares – we have available for Self-Directed Investing Basic.

Comparing investment funds and ETFs

Our fund selector makes it easy to compare all the investment funds and ETFs. Select ‘Self-Directed Investing Basic’ under ‘selection’ to see what you can choose from. Next, you can compare funds based on the features that matter to you.

Comparing shares

In the ABN AMRO app and on Internet Banking you can check the details of shares. Go to your investment account and tap ‘Find product’ in the app or click ‘New order’ on Internet Banking. Select ‘shares’ at the top. You can now filter shares by region or industry. Tap or click the share that you are interested in. This will show price trend, a risk assessment, and often also our analysts’ opinion on the share.

Submitting an order

If there’s anything that’s not clear to you when submitting an order, first check the page where we explain step by step how to submit an order. This will tell you exactly what’s involved in buying and selling your investments.
