You can open a Dutch current account as soon as you’ve moved to the Netherlands. Don't have a BSN yet? Then you can still open an account.
2. Fill in data
Take a photo of your passport and enter the requested details.
You need a Dutch registered address of residence.

What are the requirements for opening a Dutch (joint) bank account online?
You can open a bank account online if you:
- are aged 18 years or older;
- have an official Dutch home address;
- have a Dutch ID or an international passport;
- are liable to pay taxes in the Netherlands (and possibly also in another country).

How long does it take to open a Dutch bank account?
Opening a Dutch bank account online is done within less than 10 minutes. All you need is your mobile and your ID. You can prove your identity in the ABN AMRO app. Fast and easy right? After applying you will receive your account number within 4 hours.
Prefer to make an appointment and come to one of our branch offices? That’s also possible. First make an appointment. After opening the bank account you will receive your debit card within 5 working days.
Can foreigners open a bank account in the Netherlands?
Yes. Foreigners with an international passport, EU-passport or any Dutch ID can open a bank account in the Netherlands. You also need a BSN to open the bank account.
Do I need a BSN to open a Dutch bank account?
Don't have a BSN yet? Then you can still open an account. However, you must provide us with your BSN within 90 days after opening your account.
